Drift Hunters unblocked: where the real one is

This page is not Drift Hunters and we did not make it. Drift Hunters was made by Ilya Kaminetsky and he puts it up free on his own page: ilyakaminetsky.itch.io/drift-hunters. That is the version to play. It runs in a browser, it costs nothing, and it is the one the developer actually maintains.

Everything below is the stuff the download pages do not tell you. What is in the game, the controls including the ones nobody finds, how to stop grinding for credits, which of the four games called Drift Hunters is which, and what to play instead when the machine you are on cannot handle it.

What Drift Hunters actually is

It is a drifting game with a garage attached, and the garage is why people stay with it.

You start in a Toyota AE86 with some money to spend. You drift corners, the points multiply the longer you hold a slide, and you cash the points in for cars and parts. There are twenty-six cars and ten tracks. Cars start unlocking at around 8,500 points and the most expensive one is well over 130,000, so the game is a long grind by design.

The tuning is real, not decoration. Engine, turbo, gearbox, brakes and weight can each be upgraded through several levels, and you can change colour, rims and ride height on top. Two people driving the same car can have very different cars.

It was built in Unity and runs through WebGL, which is the reason it is slow to start. The whole 3D engine has to load into your browser tab before anything appears.

Drift Hunters controls

Action Key
Drive WASD or arrow keys
Handbrake Space
Change camera C
Shift up (manual) Left Shift
Shift down (manual) Left Ctrl

The camera key is the one most people never find. Pressing C cycles the view, and the further-back angles make it much easier to see how sideways you actually are, which is the whole thing you are being scored on.

How to earn credits faster

The single biggest mistake is buying a second car straight away. A fully upgraded starter is quicker than a stock expensive one, and it is easier to control while you are still learning.

Chain corners instead of chasing one huge drift. The multiplier builds while you stay sideways and resets when you straighten or spin. Four linked medium drifts beat one spectacular one that ends in a spin.

Pick the right track. Wide tracks with long sweeping corners let you hold a slide from one corner into the next. Forest and Emashi are the usual recommendations for this. Tight tracks with walls close in, like the docks, punish you long before they pay.

Be gentle. Smooth inputs hold a drift. Stabbing at the arrow keys kills it. This is the opposite instinct to most browser games and it takes a few minutes to unlearn.

Do not over-tune too early. A car with far too much power is harder to hold sideways, not easier, and you will earn less with it until your control catches up.

Which Drift Hunters is which

There are four things using this name and only two of them are related.

Drift Hunters is the original, by Ilya Kaminetsky, free on his own page and on portals.

Drift Hunters MAX is the sequel, made by the same person with the Drifted team, and only available on their site. It adds AI traffic and street drifting rather than empty circuits, brings back the old cars and adds about eleven new ones, and unlike the original it was built to work on phones. It is heavier than the original.

Drift Hunters 2 is a name used for browser builds in the same family, and which one you get depends on where you find it.

Drift Hunters Pro is not part of the series at all. It is made by Freezenova, a different studio, and the name is the only connection. It may well be a fine game. It is just not this one, and if you were expecting your garage to be there, it will not be.

If it will not run properly

Three things go wrong, in this order of likelihood.

It looks frozen on a blank screen. Give it a full minute. The game is large and nothing appears until it has finished loading. This is not the same as a crash.

It runs but stutters. Open the options and drop the graphics setting. The sequel's own site recommends medium or low for machines below spec, and the same applies to the original. Closing other tabs helps more than people expect, because the browser is sharing memory between all of them.

It still stutters on low. Then the machine does not have the graphics chip for it, and no setting will fix that. The lighter games below are the answer, not another copy of the same game somewhere else.

Lighter drift games, heaviest first

Burnout Drift

The closest thing to Drift Hunters that is not Drift Hunters. Full 3D, made by BoneCracker Games, with three tracks and a car list running from sensible drift builds up to supercars that are far too much for the job. It has its own points system and cars to unlock.

The handling is looser than Drift Hunters and takes longer to get on with, which is a fair trade for a game that will run when the other one will not.

One catch: it is desktop only. It does not run in a phone browser.

Play it: CrazyGames.

Drift Fever

Ours, and the reason this page exists, so read it with that in mind.

The reason it is on a Drift Hunters page is weight. It is one file, so it opens on the sort of machine that gives up on Unity, and it opens in about a second rather than a minute.

It also handles mistakes differently. In Drift Hunters a spin costs you the multiplier and a wall costs you the run. Here, running wide puts you on the edge of the road rather than off it, so a mistake grades down through a scrape band instead of ending everything. You lose the chain, not the go.

What it does not have is the thing that makes Drift Hunters good. No garage, no tuning, no engine swaps, no twenty-six cars, no ten tracks. It is one track a day, the same one for everybody in the world, with a ghost of your last run to chase. If your laptop can run Drift Hunters, play Drift Hunters.

Controls: left and right arrow keys, or the left and right halves of the screen on a phone.

Sling Drift

Top down, tiny, and loading in about a second on anything with a screen. There are hooks at every corner. You hold a key to swing round one and let go on the way out.

It is not drifting and it does not pretend to be, but it has the same one-mistake-and-it-is-over rhythm and it will run on absolutely any machine. Made by Tastypill.

Controls: hold space through a corner, release to come off the hook.

Play it: Poki.

Drift Boss

One button, a narrow ledge, and the lightest game on this page by a distance. Holding turns the car one way and letting go turns it back the other, and those are the only two things it does.

There is more in it now than there used to be, including skins, minigames, loot chests and a card system. We have written up why the control makes it so hard on our Drift Boss page.

Controls: hold space or the left mouse button. That is the entire game.

Play it: Coolmath Games.

Quick answers

Who made Drift Hunters? Ilya Kaminetsky, a Ukrainian developer. He also made Drift Hunters MAX with the Drifted team.

Is Drift Hunters free? Yes, on the developer's own page and on the portals that carry it. There is nothing to buy.

How many cars are in it? Twenty-six, all fully tuneable. You unlock them with drift points.

How many tracks? Ten, including Forest, Emashi, City, Tyshen and the docks.

Can I play it on a phone? The original was built for keyboard and mouse. Drift Hunters MAX is the one made for phones.

What is the best beginner car? Keep the starter and upgrade it. The car most people move to next is a Nissan Silvia, because it is predictable rather than fast.

Why does it take so long to load? It is a Unity game running through WebGL, so the engine loads before the game does. A minute on a blank screen is normal.

Is Drift Hunters Pro the same game? No. Different studio, Freezenova, and no connection beyond the name.

Details on this page were checked in August 2026 against the developer's own listings. Games change, so if something does not match, it changed after that.
